Process for New Volunteers
- Volunteers contact the Community Liaison Miriam Steinberg at 288-5702 ext.231
- Volunteers are given Volunteer Inquiry Forms which tells what their availability is, if they have a grade and time preference, references and other contact information. This form is then given to the Community Liaison for review.
- Community Liaison assigns volunteer to a classroom sets up a schedule based on volunteer’s availability and sets up a start date.
- The teacher is given the volunteers contact information and schedule.
- On the volunteer’s first day, the Community Liaison gives a tour of the school and gives the volunteer a packet of information, including school procedures, dress code and other facts about the school.
- The teacher will have work for the volunteer to do with either one student or a small group of students.
- Volunteers work either in or out of the classroom with students at the discretion of the teacher.
- Teachers will let volunteers know of days off from school, field trips or assessments.
